Little Miss Olivia & her Mommy & Daddy!

In the summertime (Ok well most anytime of year) the best light is in the early morning or in the evening. Most of my clients opt for the evening appointments. But this family chose a morning! What a refreshing time of day! It was so neat to see how the light behaved differently and how equally beautiful it was. It was a nice change to be fresh and bright eyed for a morning shoot too. I highly recommend it for young children!

Little Miss O was as cute as ever. I have been blessed to have been photographing her since she was in her Mommy's tummy! Now she is 18 months old, and full of energy! She loves her bubbles (Dad was our HERO when he had to run home to retrieve forgotten bubble wand!). But I think even more, she loves the freedom to run and play. As we chased her around we got some really fun shots! Thanks G family for another great session!

on. Its so much fun to get the two of them together! Its always fun to see how much they look and act alike. Although Allie is most definitely a girl and Christian is a boy through and through! The truth is girls have much cuter clothes and photography props- so at least I get my girly fix every once in a while!

The Bridgewater Family - Treasure Valley Family Photographer

I love this family! I first meet the Bridgewater a few years ago when I did some family portraits for them, shortly after their son Owen had been diagnosed with Cancer. (he has his ups and downs still, but is doing great!) I love that they are not only clients but have really become friends. When I first joined Face Book, I planned to only friend people I knew. But as a business owner, I found that FB was a great way to interact with my future, and past clients. Through FB I really have grown to have a relationship with my clients and when we get together for our sessions its like meeting up with old friends. It has made my job so rewarding & enjoyable!

So some of you might remember that HUGE wind storm not too long ago. Yep we were out taking pictures when it happened. Out in an old abandoned street and this gust of wind and dirt pelted us. We took refuge behind a pillar till it passed. It started to rain, but hey whats a little rain? So we found a spot that had a overhang and we continued on. Whats that popular saying? "Keep Calm & Carry On" yep that was us. Luckily the storm was short lived, the sun peeked out from the dark clouds and we were able to finish our session. Perfection!

The Vance Family Portraits - Treasure Valley Photographer

Yeah! Little Grace is 1 year old! I had the opportunity to photograph her as a newborn, and now she is a sugar and spice full throttle toddler. This girl does not hold still, she is always on the move! But she is a doll none the less! Her big brother Remington is so funny. Not to thrilled with the whole picture taking process, however he could ham it up when he wanted to. (I just had be ready because it was quick!) In the end we got some really wonderful portraits of 2 adorable kids and a beautiful family!

Baby Kate

I love Facebook! Such a great place to reunite with long lost friends. This is Angie my best best friend in Junior High. Unfortunately I moved our 9th grade year. Of course we kept in touch as well as we could, there was no texting, IM, or facebook then; in fact a phone call to each other was long distance. As time went on we grew further and further apart. then life of kids, husbands, and careers and we completely lost touch. Until recently, through facebook not only did we find each other again, but realized we have lived for the past 7 years only a mile apart! Life is so crazy sometimes! Here we are in 8th grade (and I'm pretty sure I'm wearing a banana clip! Ha ha!)

I was so excited when she called me and asked me to photograph her new baby! It was so wonderful to get to spend a few hours catching up and cuddling this precious little girl! Its always amazing to see how life makes a full circle. Kate's big brother was a big help being my assistant, holding props and backgrounds for me. He is going to be a great big brother! (I'm pretty sure he is quite smitten with her!) Congratulations Nathan & Angie on your baby girl!

I love these growing up sessions, I have photographed lil' miss Eva since she was in her Mommy's tummy. Now she is a year old (boy does time fly!). She is the sweetest girly girl, with all her darling outfits and accessories. Even the way she walks is so dainty. I love that the Jones' chose to do their session at their home. Home is a location that not only has sentimental value but holds memories. Melinda and Kirt Engagement Portraits - Treasure Valley Photographer

Kirt & Melinda are such a darling couple. Add her boys... I have never seen brothers who so willingly hugged and posed for the camera! LOVE! We started out our session by the creek where their wedding will being held, then we went to Kirt's parents home to do some shots in the field. I cannot tell how how many stickers from the cheat grass I had embedded in my pants! LOL I think it took me 20 minutes to pull them all out when I got home. (now that was an uncomfortable drive LOL) BUT it was all worth it. Look at that beautiful grass glowing in the evening sun. Perfection! Boyd Wedding

You may have seen many of these photos already on facebook, thats where I post my "sneak peeks" and sometimes it takes me a while to get them up here on the blog. But here they are!

Matt & Lauren's wedding was filled with love and laughter. My second shooter, Megan Wright, and I meet up with the Bride at the salon capturing all the details of the day. We went on to the church (where we had a funny mishap with the alarms!) where the rest of the wedding party and the groom, Matt, were getting ready. Matt & Lauren opted to do portraits before the ceremony so they would have ample time for lots of creative shots. We started with an intimate first look, and then spent lots of time exploring the "old" side of the newly renovated church. Finishing up with lots of family portraits. Leaving time for everyone to relax and prepare for the ceremony. The ceremony was beautiful in front of the indoor waterfall with family and friends looking on. On to the reception with large TV's displaying pictures of the Matt & Lauren growing up all the way to their engagement portraits. In addition to the gorgeous wedding cake there was A coffee bar, and a candy bar. A perfect day for a perfect couple! May God bless you both richly for MANY years Matt & Lauren! Congratulations!!

The Leather's Family

Such a beautiful family! The crazy Idaho weather is so hard to predict, I have had to reschedule so many sessions this spring due to weather. Well this day was of and on raining, but it was fairly warm. So we went ahead with the shoot. Wouldn't you know it it started to POUR as we really got into it. Luckily we were shooting in a backyard and we took shelter under the porch as we waited for the little storm cloud to pass by. It would stop for a few minutes, we would get all set up again, and then here came the rain. Ha! Oh well we had fun with it anyway. How could I complain shooting in such a fantastic spot?! (I dream of MY backyard looking like this someday!)

The Pink Mohawk Project

Stephanie is one of the most amazing women I know. After 4 children she decided to go back to school, and became a Math teacher. (Teacher + Math= amazing in my book!) She was planning her daughters wedding when things just didn't seem right. And 2 days after the wedding she got the diagnoses.... breast cancer. After Stephanie's first round of chemo she had a "pink mohawk" party to shave her head. "if I'm going to lose all my hair, I'm going to have fun with it" said Stephanie. Joe, her husband, joined in and is sporting a pink mohawk also. Not only is he the love of her life, but her biggest supporter also.

It was truly an honor to capture these portraits. As we continue to pray for God's healing in Stephanie, I pray for strength and joy through this journey. I am positive Stephanie and her family will be able to look back on this one day and smile (maybe even chuckle a little too).

I think this photo should be titled Cancer cannot take away my JOY

Shantel & Steven, engaged!

When planning a portrait session one of the biggest decisions is location. Although we are blessed to have an abundance of beautiful parks it is always exciting when a client choses a new (to me) location. Shantel & Steven suggested this abandoned farm in Eagle, and it was amazing. Ok we did have to deal with a few mosquitos (OK, a lot of mosquitos) luckily being a Mom of 4 I had some repellant in my van. (always prepared!) We had a blast exploring the old buildings, posing by rundown fences, and the gorgeous sun setting on the tall wispy grass... LOVE! And make sure to check out Shantel's amazing shoes, I had recommended wearing some sassy heels and I'm pretty sure she crossed the border and went for sexy! (And she she rocked them I might add!) Congratulations Shantel & Steven, I absolutely cannot wait to shoot your wedding next fall!

Taylor Class of 2011

Jana + Jim = Married

Bella Aquilla, in Eagle, Idaho was the perfect location for Jana & Jim's intimate wedding & reception. The ceremony was on beautiful patio with waterfalls, lanterns, & iron gates, that overlook the Boise River. With the late evening sun casting a magical glow made the water sparkle and the colors pop. The sit down 3 corse dinner was topped off with an amazing Greg Marsh cake crafted to resemble where Jim & Jana were engaged at Disney World. Every touch and detail represented the couples laid-back + sophisticated style and their love for those closest to them; their family and friends. Congratulations Jim & Jana!

Ahhhh! Spring! I love each time I come to the park it is a little greener, the trees are a little fuller, and the flowers blooming. I photographed this cute family last summer when Dara was only a couple months old, now she is a chubby, cutie with so much personality. She even let us play with all kinds of fun dress up props (girls are so much fun!). Dara's parents are involved in roller derby and Jamie even started her own business Strollerderby, so naturally we had to do some fun portraits in their gear!

Wright Wedding

Destinee's senior session was amazing! She is a gorgeous girl with a bright and beautiful future ahead of her. Believe it or not, but these portraits were done in the dead of winter! (one of my sessions I'm behind on blogging) I think it was bout 13 degrees and breezy, this girl didn't even skip a beat! Even in a summer dress! (She is wayyy braver than I am!!) Travis & Hannah are expecting!

When I found out that Hannah was expecting I was so happy for her & Travis. I had the pleasure of photographing their wedding last summer, and now I get to photograph their (soon to be) growing family. Hannah with her beautiful belly was just as stunning as she was a year ago on her wedding day. Travis was the usual clown cracking jokes, and being silly. He is so excited to be a Dad, and will make a wonderful one!

I love photographing families from year to year, what a special treat to see kids and families grow in front of my lens. This family is so fun to photograph, they are a quirky group who knows how to have a good time. Auntie and Grandma have no worries about acting goofy to get kids to smile. I will have to say that this will be one of my most membrable sessions hands down... We had a good laugh! I was so thrilled to find out that a new addition will be joining the Garidel family. Lauren & Matt Engagements

Lauren and Matt make such a great couple. It wasn't the warmest of days (although we were thankful for the sunshine). We made several breaks to warm up, including a coffee break (yum!) at one point poor Laurens hads were blue! But in the end all you see is a beautiful couple who are crazy in love. And that's all that matters. I can not wait to photograph their wedding in a couple of weeks!

My good friend Becky wanted wintery/snowy pictures. Well, here in the Treasure Valley that is pretty hard to predict. But we got lucky, we got dumped on and everyone was home from school/work so we planned this session on about an hours notice! We had a blast too, including a snowball fight! I even heard one of the boys declare "that was more fun than video games!"

Another newly found favorite photography loaction! Unfortunatlly for my Treasure Valley friends its in Twin Falls, but great news for my Magic Valley friends! Beautiful in the fall, but I bet is just stunning in the sping & summer too (and I bet would be amazing for a wedding!!) It was the perfect spot for this mini shoot on a crisp (ok cold!) fall day. It took a little coaxing to get the little guy to come out of the truck, but once he did, what a ham!

One of my favorite families in my newest favorite location. (shhh! Its a secret!). This little field with dainty purple flowers and lined with trees is a gorgeous backdrop especially in the late evening fall sun. LOVE!

Baby Elijah

Little Elijah at 12 days old. I love it when a portrait tells a story, we were able to use the rocking chair that Grandma rocked his Daddy in when he was a baby. Precious!

I love getting to watch kiddos grow up in front of my lens. I have had the pleasure of photographing Miss Paisley a couple of times, and now it was Mom & Dad's turn. Paisley was full of giggles when she got to sit with her pumpkin, and sure thought she was a big girl getting to stand on her own! And that the Halloween costume, well it speaks for itself....cuteness!

A trip to wine country

What a fun shoot this was! We did a little of everything, family, baby, trash the dress, best friends, vintage cars, and even a little wine tasting in the middle of it all. I can't get over how stunning the light was and so perfect with the orchard backdrop. I can't wait to shoot here again!!

What a sweet little family. Walking through the park, enjoying the fall leaves and even finding some pretty purple flowers that really captured the attention of the girls. (which was a good thing because they were starting to get a little tired of posing for the camera!) And we ended the session with spinning and twirling together in the grass... I love my job!

Its always a little nerve-wrecking when another photographer asks you to photograph their family. I think we quickly learned that it dosn't matter if your Mom is a photographer or not, kids will be kids. And sometimes taking portraits is not on their adjenda that day. Thats alright it happens more often than you'd think- when you work with kids you just gotta roll with the punches! Another great reason its good to be outdoors where we can let the kiddos run, play and have a few tickle sessions in between. We were able to capture great portraits and no one would even know about the pouts in-between. :)

This wedding is proof that a intamate backyard wedding can be every bit as beautiful and amazing as any expensive and exclusive location. The day was perfect, with friends and family all a buzz getting all the final details ready. Kimberlee was a stunning bride, at one point in the day I was instructing her to stop smiling for a more serious portrait and she exclaimed " I can't stop smiling- I'm just so happy" -well who can argue with that? One great thing about outdoor/natural light photography is not being confined to a studio. And with energetic 2 year old boys like Logan this is a good thing! We spent a lot of time just chasing him around and letting him just be Logan, but we got the best candid shots! This kid is amazing on a bicycle, and once we broght it out he was just zipping all over the place...watch out I'm pretty sure were going to see him doing something pretty cool with that bike when he gets older!

Once again, attempting to catch up on blogging! These past few months have been so busy I can't believe how behind I am in getting these sessions up! (I just counted 26 sessions behind- ack!) So hold on to your seats and be ready to be dazzled by all the great families, seniors, babies and weddings that have kept me so busy!

The Grant Family is one of those amazing families! These are people that I just admire.Raising 2 special needs kids and two parents who adore them. I know first hand raising 1 special needs child can be a challenge, but raising 2- wow! It was such a pleasure getting to know the Grant's and capturing their special family!

Stephen's Senior Portraits

Stephen is a senior at Valley View HS. I knew as soon as I saw him, that this was going to be an awesome shoot. At times being in front of the camera can be a little akward, but he warmed up quickly. We had to send Mom home to retrieve a forgotten guitar strap, and then went on a wild hunt for the perfect rail road track location, needless to say, my sessions are never boring! The verse on the last picture was requested by him...LOVE it! Not only was it a perfect verse for that photo, but I love to see young people who are on fire for Jesus! Congratulations, & Good luck in your bright future Stephen!

Topete Wedding ~ Magic Valley Wedding Photographer

Oh my! This wedding was just devine! I'm warning you, this is a very picture heavy post! Its is just so hard to only pick a few images. The wedding was held at Snyder Winery in Buhl, Idaho, which made a stunning backdrop for the day. Lots of laughter, wine & pure happiness encircled everyone from the begining to the end. The ceremony was small and intamate- but no detail was too small. It was a joy to photograph and I wish John & Silvanna the best of luck, love and happiness for many years to come! Congratulations!!

Hailey's Senior Portraits {part2}

Hailey wanted to do something a little different, a little edgy. So that is how the idea of doing her portraits at the Fair came about. Not everyone could pull this off, walking around in 4 inch heels, being quite the speticale posing in front of people who would stop and gawk wondering what the heck we were up to, and lastly wearing an evening gown (now that got a few head turns!) but Hailey did it wonderfully, she is so comftrable in front of the camera and looked beautiful!

Matt & Courtney ~ Twin Falls Wedding Photographer

Matt & Courtney are the picture of perfect young love. They were both just beaming with joy. Even with mishaps such as the brides dress being locked in another room of the church that no one had a key too, Courtney & Matt just sat and enjoyed a sushi lunch together while we waited for someone with keys to show up. Or a poor bridesmaid having to leave the ceremony to avoid fainting. And even a "in the moment photographer" (Ahem) who bumped into the backdrop as she was getting an amazing shot (and I got it too!). Not many brides would have handled everything so well, but Courtney just laughed it off, and enjoyed her perfect day for what it was. Congratulations Matt & Courtney!!

This time we headed down to BSU for some fun Bronco shots (check out that cool football!!) At sunset we hiked up to tablerock (whew! Got my workout for the day!) to get some amazing shots with the foothills cross. I love that Mike asked to have portraits done here. He also brought along his Grandmothers Bible, and a flower from a dear friend who recently passed away. I love that!! How special these portraits will always be for Mike.

Tailyr {part 2}

Part 2 of Tailyr's Senior Portraits! We had to wait a couple of weeks for the sunflowers to come out in full bloom, but it was well worth the wait! Tailyr is aslo a gifted athlete, who received "player of the week" awards by 2 different newspapers! Way to go Tailyr!
